Strategic
Plan and Goals
The Universitys
Strategic Plan consists of eight themes that
collectively represent issues of fundamental importance to
the University. The themes are not based on the Universitys
organizational structure but address issues that have significance
across organizational units. The themes are purposely inter-related
and all pertain to the ultimate goal of providing high quality
educational experiences for our students. The eight themes
are intended to be durable--they are not expected to change
over the short-term. Each theme has an overarching goal and
a detailed explanation of its elements. The eight themes are:
- Teaching
& Learning
- Academic
Programs*
- Scholarly & Creative Achievement
- Pluralism
- Enrollment
Management
- Campus
Life*
- Community
Engagement & Impact*
- Institutional
Effectiveness
The CSUS
Strategic Plan is used extensively to guide decisions and
resource allocations across the University. Because the Strategic
Plan is the centerpiece of our institutional assessment activities,
it provides the fundamental principles on which we base our
efforts to improve our programs and our service to the region.
The Plan is maintained and updated by the Council for University
Planning, which involves every major constituency of the University
community. The themes are revised and updated on a 4 year
cycle. Each year two themes are reviewed in-depth. The Theme
Working Group of the Council and the Office of Institutional
Research examines the theme narrative for currency and recommends
revisions to the Council.
